Galaxy S4 is official

SamsungGalaxyS4March 14-15 is the set date when Samsung will present at New York the brand new Samsung Smartphone – Galaxy S4.

The rumours say that we will enjoy a fullHD – SoLux technology – on a 5″ display. Unfortunately we will not see the AMOLED flexible screen integrated in the new Galaxy.

The new Samsung will work with a  Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 platform – quad core Krait 300, 1.9 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM and an Adreno 320 GPU – .

It will weight only 138 g and the actual size will be 140x72x7.7 mm.

A new phone must have a better camera, so most probably S4 will have a 13 MP back camera, and a 2 MP front camera. It will come in two option a 16 GB internal memory and a 32 GB internal memory, but both will have the option to extend that memory using the microSDHC slot.

Another rumour said that it might come with a stylus pen, something similar with the one from Note 2.

There are only two more weeks until the big launch, but is still plenty of time for new rumours to be appear, so stay close for more news.

SONY Playstation 4

Dualshock 4 - Playstation 4

Yesterday Sony announced their new gaming platform- the Playstation 4. Unfortunately the did not actually display the device, but instead focused on the technical specifications.

The Playstation 4 console will be equipped with an AMD Jaguar CPU x86-64 8 nucleus processor, which will be able to reach two teraflops processing power. The graphics processor is still from AMD, and it will contain 18 computation units and 8GB GDDR5, which will go up to 176 GB/s. It will have an integrated Wi-Fi b/g/n, ethernet, Bluetooth and all kinds of auxiliary audio-video output.

What we were allowed to actually see at this showing was the new console controller; the “Dualshock 4”. It consists of two joysticks, four triggers, a direction pad, the iconic triangle, cross, circle and square buttons, a touchpad in the middle, and finally a PlayStation “blue light bar” across the top.

Other things that they presented were a new Cloud service called PlayStation Cloud, and a list of new PS4 games: The Witcher 3, Final Fantasy, Deep Down, Diablo 3, Drive Club, Infamous: Second Son, Knack, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Watch Dog, Destiny among others.

Another significant upgrade that we will see in this new system will be a new camera – the “PlayStation 4 Eye”, which will actually be composed of two cameras and four microphones, allowing for better detection and interaction with the players’ movements and voice.

The product will be out in stores sometime in the upcoming winter season, probably around Christmas, with a price estimated to be around $429 – $529.

nVidia’s first smartphone

nVidia first smartphone Phoenix A few weeks ago officials from nVidia announced that they will soon be entering the cell phone market. The company has now revealed their plans for a smartphone called “Phoenix”.

Phoenix has a 5″ display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080. It is equipped with a 13 MP back camera, and is only 8mm thick. This intelligent “small box”  will come equipped with a Tegra 4i processor, PRISM II chipset, DirectTouch Architecture, Chimera Computational Photography Architecture and 4G LTE. Tegra 4i is the highest performing single chip smartphone processor. It has a 2.3 Ghz Quad CPU, a 60 Core GPU and an SDR LTE (72 Core for superphone/Tablet ) in a package half the size of competing chips. Not only is this technological development interesting, but the source of inspiration for the phone’s name.

Apparently “Phoenix” was drawn from the X-men franchise, where the character, Jean Grey receives the nickname Phoenix as a mutant that possesses the power to control minds, communicate telepathically and manipulate objects through telekinesis.

Inspite of all this background, we are still awaiting for the final details, including a launch date.
